What Staying Home Has Taught Me
At first I was focussing on the negatives that COVID brought but being home has forced me to focus on the things that matter most to me and to take care of myself.
What are you doing with your quarantined life? I'm not a fan of downtime so I've found lots of projects to do around my house. Pinterest is my favorite place to find crafts, food, and decor inspiration. On the warm days, I've been working on my garden (side note I do not have a green thumb but I try). On cold days I've tried new recipes with the supplies I have on hand. Quarantine mornings have been my favorite. I am loving the slow-paced mornings. I've dedicated time in the a.m. for reading and time in the p.m. to journal. There is something about the quiet and newness in the early hours that speaks to my heart. Betty my pug mix is a huge cuddle bug in the mornings when I'm sipping my tea and reading. I can't think of a better way to start the day. What is your quarantine drink of choice? I like coffee but limit my intake to once a week. Usually on Sunday with breakfast. The rest of the time I drink mint tea or lavender honey. In the afternoons my drink has been Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey with cold brew coffee and cream. What are you reading right now? This week I finished Nikki Furrer A Woman's Guide to Cannabis; Using marijuana to feel better, look better, sleep better - and get high like a lady. All great reads! What are you listening to?
A few years back I started collecting records. Mainly soul and blue grass but a few contemporary albums as well. Since I’ve been home I've been listening to a lot of John Legend. I mom ordered me his album Darkness & Light on vinyl from MT Book Co.
What are you watching?
I'm not a big tv watcher but the last show I watched start to finish was Goop Labs with Gwenyth Paltrow. There are six episodes each 30 minutes long that cover things from cold therapy, female pleasure, to psychedelics. It sounds outlandish but it was SO good. What is your favorite time of day and why? Early mornings for sure! There is something about the calm quiet hours early in the mornings that speak to my heart. My perfect morning consists of a good run, quiet time during my breakfast, and watching the sunrise. What do you love most about Montana? I love the small towns and national parks that we have here. I’m not a big fan of the cold or skiing, but ski lodges, cabins, and camping I’m all about! For what in your life do you feel most grateful? My pug Betty, my mom who’s supported me through the good and bad times, and the community of women who surround me with love. How has this experience changed you? At the beginning of the year I was faced with a big change. I made the decision to leave my long term relationship. I spent the first month planning a new vision and reflecting on what I truly want in a partner. I made goals for things I wanted to accomplish during the year both personally and professionally and I was ready to execute then COVID-19 hit. I’ve never lived or been on my own and to be honest the thought has always scared me. Since being home (alone) it has forced me to find comfort in the quiet. I’m sleeping better, eating better, and feeling more at ease than ever before. I’ve learned throughout all of this just how resilient and self-reliant I truly am. #WorkingFromHome#StayHome#StaySafe#TheViragoCo#MontanaLiving
